![]() ![]() There's an air hockey table, but it has a lot of dead spots where the puck doesn't float. How do you play it? We're still not sure. They even have a weird game where you have to punch these red paddles that flip out at your face. I did enjoy tapping away on the cool X-Men game (although my brother frequently had to insert two tokens instead of the required one when using Nightcrawler). There are just a handful of classic games, and a ton of weird Japanese imports - some with nary an English word anywhere on them. But Arcade Odyssey isn't all that special. They are the last guardians of a dying age. On principle, I'm inclined to love any arcade. I wish there were more arcades like this, especially where I currently live because it would be a blast to work there and enjoy an atmosphere of people coming together to enjoy old- and new school games. It wouldn't do enough justice to how amazing this place is. I don't know what else to say that can't really be put into words. Immediately it's a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with the staff members helpful and completely awesome individuals. Essentially it is the home away from home. I also have a shirt from there that I love wearing. If I had a million dollars I would have easily spent it all there playing as much as possible, as long as possible while also enjoying the Japanese treats and drinks that are difficult to find. The classics from pinball to shooter games from DDR and Pump it up (which is my favorite whenever I get a chance to go there) to air hockey. ![]() The glow in the dark carpet is sick and I want them in my room! The games are a fantastic combination of old and new in catering to everyone's tastes in gaming genres. really, i kept whizzing by the fighting games (even the ones i hadn't heard of) because they had stuff like Crazy Taxi and half of the House of the Deads, haha.To put it simply it is the best place to be. Tizoc - sorry, not my pics so i know they're fuzzy, and again i spent like 90% of my time at Planet Harriers, haha.almost 100% certain they had SSF4 though. TONX - whoah, what place in lauderdale are you talking about? i wanna check that out man! i was checking the rules to make sure this thread wasn't outside of em, but i think i'm good, so i'd say you should be too if you're inclined, man. In my mind, arcades and comic shops have a pretty hard time, even in big cities like this - but there's still a scene, so i really wanna support this one, you know? again the whole thing looks not only well done (and expensive.), but the bit about them taking requests kinda blows my mind. i remember reading a thread on here about a spot like that in Vegas, my buddy's on this season of Ultimate Fighter and i'm hoping to go out there for the finals.if i only see one other thing in that city, it's gonna be that spot. Anyway, at the risk of being (overly) viral, here's some pics from their site so ya'll can see what i'm on about:ĭarkmakaimura - man, an arcade/bar sounds pretty awesome. it was really cool seeing someone/people who have love for the scene put so much effort/$ into something like this, so i wanted to make any other south florida Gaffers aware of the joint.Īlso, They've got a Street Fighter x Tekken tourney coming up 4/28 3pm, my girl's family is part of the FGC down here so i'm prolly gonna go to cheer them on. Their facebook page shows that they respond to fan requests, and recently put in Super Bubble Bobble. In the back, they rent out nice 3DTVs & force-feedback chairs attached to mostly standard stuff like COD, Sonic Generations etc, but the other side had some absolute gems like Espgaluda, which i gotta see on that screen even if i die pretty quick. I wish id've had time to try that Fist of the North Star punching game. i & my friend wisely spent our time (finally!) playing Planet Harriers, one that'd been on my list as an old-school sega fan since Teknopathetic introduced me to it on another thread last year or so (he was right, it was really cool). Our scene has been almost entirely dead since the passing of Flipper's in the early 2000's, with maybe an exception at Mall of the Americas.īut yeah, this place was awesome! I only had about a half hour before closing when i got there, but i was really impressed - nice Midway pinball games, dual-screen classic X-Men, fighters (and rare J ones too) galore, and the place was immaculately kept. ![]() Okay, apparently they've been around for a few months now, so they're only new to me - but i wanted to make this thread because that's part of the problem right there, i was lucky to find out from a friend recently. ![]()
